About #59 Magazine

Photographer Mart Engelen’s passion for print and black-and-white photography led to his one-man project “#59 Magazine”, which he founded in 2009, launching the first issue at the TEFAF Art Fair in Maastricht in the Netherlands that year. He publishes his best photographs in his own magazine, which highlights a global dialogue on cultural heritage in our daily existence, showcasing interviews and striking black-and-white photography. Every issue quickly becomes a sought-after collector’s item.

Covering subjects as varied as world affairs and art, politics and music, business and wealth and icons and rebels, #59 Magazine is a niche publication which comes out three times a year. As well as the webshop, it is available in selected bookstores, concept-stores, museums, art galleries and fairs in more than sixteen countries worldwide. #59 recently celebrated its tenth anniversary and, still true to his original concept, Mart Engelen continues to pursue unique and timeless content combined with extraordinary photography.
